How did I set up an International Business
from a simple hotel technician?
If they told me in July 1996 how life would go on, I would say it’s impossible. But those who know, say, that something powerful and great can be done by necessity or by inspiration. I would say that we made our necessity an inspiration.
I was working in technical service at a 5 star hotel.
When I started my family life, of course I had an appetite, I had dreams and expectations. But usually a lot depends on the work you do and the financial situation you are in. My wife had a seasonal job as a maid, but as a technician I had to be there 24 hours standby the whole year. Our work was far from our place of residence, which meant that as a permanent worker I had to be away from my family and our newborn for many months. Then there was no other option, so we compromised. But we felt that this could not be continued and we could not imagine our lives to be like this. The summer of 1996 was the worst but at the same time the most important in our lives.
We were constantly wondering. With our work, do we feel we are creating or suffering? Are we excited or wasting our energy? Is this what we dreamed about for us and our family? Couldn’t we do something? Will we be given a chance some time?
These and many more were going through our minds day and night. We talked about how nice life is, but for those who can enjoy it. We were working in a 5-star hotel and we were watching others enjoy life and that we contributed to it.
In July, an old friend came to work while I was working and passed on some very important information, one that you can learn today. He started talking to me (then there was no internet) about how I could do things and make a difference in my life. I remember, at that time I was in the pool engine room, I went out and met him with the dirty work uniform. It was the first time in my life that I talked to anyone about business. I never imagined that I, who lacked the knowledge, skills and experience, could do business. I laughed and looked him in the eyes and asked him. Look how I am. Do you think I’m able to do business?
But it was a spark in our need. A spark that evolved into inspiration and ultimately changed our lives. It was hard for me to learn new things and I realized that I had to follow a system that would guide me to what I needed to do daily. We started to create beautiful images in our mind, to imagine big things. Looking at other successful people, we asked ourselves… – What should you do? Take initiatives … We start with what we have and what we can do better. Do our best in whatever we do and the doors will open in front of us.
DECISION: every day do something … We started building OUR FREEDOM.
The first check was 10 €. When I was showing it everyone was laughing…. But I knew very well that the outcome depends purely on me and not on the boss or other extraneous factors!!! So I lived a 6-month transitional period with two jobs. The one I had and had to continue until I developed the second one that would change my life. It sounds weird but, suddenly, I got in the mood. I felt I had a purpose and a meaning in my life. I was going to my first job with a clear sense of expiration date. I feel confident about the result.
I remember that one day I was asked about my dream… I replied that I wanted to have students and make seminars around the world. Imagine that I had never been out of my country until then!!!
Over time this has become a reality and so far I have traveled on 4 continents.
Unbelievable things for many people who knew me. But for me it was just a normal result of certain decisions and movements following a blueprint (draft) that I can share with you.
There is no right time. There will always be obstacles, difficulties, challenges that will make the conditions unfinished.
How many times in our lives have we been given the opportunity to change for the better? How many times have we been given the opportunity to make our own decisions about ourselves and our future?
Unfortunately there is a logic of compromise, habit and average. We live a lifestyle we usually don’t like, we get used to, and if we’re on the average income and lifestyle of the people around us, we think all is well.
But so many opportunities are lost this way.
We know people who compromise on living the same day for 40 years. Who knows where will be on Monday morning and every Monday?
We receive the wrong messages and the wrong lessons about what we are capable of doing. Instead of looking to find and develop our abilities, we just think about what we can’t do.
And if we do finally decide to do something, we want it all so quickly, forgetting that we have been working for so many years, steadily with patience and sacrifice, without ever changing anything!!!
But as times change, opportunities in the future will take a different form. Use of the mind, the Internet, etc.
Needs a fresh mind get used to not get used.
When you decide to create, new words emerge: initiatives, positive thinking, creativity, evolution, perspective, reward, recognition, lifestyle, financial independence, dreams.
